Who We Are

Northern-Savanna Crops & Tubers focuses on growing healthy, organic produce for export, with a component retained for local demand.

With a Board and Management of experts who have harnessed over 20 years of experience in Ecology, Agri-Tech, Agro-Processing, Agronomy, Community Development, Law, Finance, and Technology, we entered the African market from Ghana, with the aim of intersecting patient-finance- development with high-quality and transformative agriculture that leads to deep-rooted and long-term growth and skills acquisition for all involved, that ensures dignity in and reward for farm labour, that provides safeguarding of people, land, and futures, and that guarantees agricultural and financial yield – over and over again.

Amadou Mahtar Ba

Non-Executive Director (Board)

Amadou Mahtar Ba is a seasoned professional with wide Africa, Europe, Middle East & US experience where he founded successful ventures including AllAfrica Inc and  Integra Africa.

Ba is mostly known as a Co-Founder & Executive Chair of AllAfrica, owner and operator of http://allafrica.com, the largest digital distributor of African news and information worldwide. 

He sits on prestigious  boards and has participated in important working groups including UN Secretary General’s High Level Panel on Women’s Economic Empowerment, European Leadership Council of Mercy Corps, World Economic Forum Network of Global Agenda Councils, the Government of Dubai’s Global Council for SDG5, Women’s Economic Imperative, and the Panel of Judges for the CNN African Journalist Award.

Mr. Ba is recipient of many distinguished awards & recognitions including NewAfrican Magazine “100 most influential Africans” for 3 years in a row. Forbes listed him among “top 10 most powerful men in Africa”. EXPO 2015 & Afronline awarded him the Africa Media Prize for “outstanding contribution to African Media & skills to promote innovation”. The Millennium Africa Foundation presented him with its Lifetime Achievement Award and ReputationPoll International included him on its “100 Most Reputable Africans” selection.

 

Ba was educated in Senegal, France and Spain. He is fluent in French, English, Spanish, Fulani and Wolof. He holds a Masters degree from EFAP Communication in Paris and a Bachelors Degree from University Paris 7 (Jussieu).

 

Mawuse Oliver Barker-Vormawor

Director (Board)
Oliver Barker-Vormawor studied law at the University of Ghana and thereafter secured a degree from Harvard Law School in the USA. He has worked as a legal academic and researcher, focusing on constitutional law, governance, and human rights. He is currently working on resuming his PhD, which he had commenced at the Faculty of Law, Cambridge University, UK a few years ago. Oliver also holds degrees from the Universite Mohammed V, Souissi, Rabat, and the University Hassan II, Casablanca in Morocco.
 
Oliver is a lawyer and the co-founder of the law firm Merton & Everret. He provides legal strategy and directorial oversight for Northern-Savanna Crops and Tubers.

Golda Naa Adaku Addo

Founder/CEO

For 17 years, Golda Addo was a Strategist & Project Advisor for Businesses looking to develop or improve in the areas of Monitoring & Evaluation, Communications, Results-based Management, Policies and Structures. She consulted for and supported various projects and various foreign donors, government top offices, CSOs, private, local and international projects across Benin, Nigeria, Liberia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Tunisia, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, Ghana, Gabon, etc as well as worked with top government offices in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. In 2024, she retired from active project consultancy and went fully into agriculture – first as a hobby, and shortly after as a full-time career.

Golda was the chair of Gender4Results (an AfDB-hosted platform for African development) from 2013 to 2016 where she worked with over 100 women from all over Africa to determine Results-based approaches to improving GESI on the continent.  She was also a Ghana Compact Fellow (2022 to 2024) for the ACET Ghana Leadership Programme for transforming Ghana. She co-founded and co-managed Insightis Africa a data intelligence company focused on supporting Ghanaian business make data-led decisions. She has sustained transformational education, support, and governance and leadership training or many people and communities across Ghana and the West African sub-region.  She is heavily invested in the development of communities and lives across Ghana and Africa through results-focused, collaborative, and innovative strategies and approaches.

Mary-Ann Akelentara

Farm Operations Officer

Akelentara Mary-Ann has experience in research and community-based work, with a focus on learning through practical projects and finding solutions that make a difference in health, agriculture, and social systems.

She has taken part in research projects, helping with field work, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports. These experiences have helped her learn how to share findings in clear and useful ways. 

Alongside her research work, Mary-Ann is also a small-scale farmer, managing her own agricultural projects. This hands-on experience gives her a real understanding of the challenges and opportunities in farming, which complements what she learns through research.

She enjoys working both independently and with teams, contributing to research, documentation, and sharing knowledge. Mary-Ann is especially passionate about work that supports wellbeing, resilience, and long-term sustainability.

 

Gloria Theresa Ilona Naa Korkoi Addo-Aryitey

Data, Research and Technology Lead

Gloria is a multi-skilled professional with expertise in project data management, research, monitoring and evaluation and computer network infrastructure management. She has enjoyed more than a decade and half’s successful career with several International NGOs as an Info Systems and Infrastructure Manager, then as Program Development Lead for Relief International’s flagship carbon emissions reduction programme managed by Sustainable Development and Relief Associates (SUDRA) LBG.

Gloria led SUDRA’s project team during the collaborative research work undertaken by NetHope, Strategic Impact Advisors and MTN Ghana, to conduct baseline and endline surveys among women entrepreneurs.

Gloria had previously contributed to the UNHCR’s refugee resettlement program in Ghana, through the (DHS/USCIS) Overseas Processing Entity office, and had progressed to become the Senior ICT officer for USAID’s Water Sanitation and Hygiene Project implemented by Relief International, Winrock International and the Adventist Development and Relief Agency.

Gloria believes in small changes that generate big impacts; she brings this mindset to the team harnessing her data and research skills to pool and disseminate insights from local knowledge, helping farmers and other value chain actors to make informed decisions that will lead to significantly improved sustainable agricultural practices.

Kate Amankrah

Finance Consultant

Kate Amankrah is a finance professional with extensive experience in accounting, project management, and financial leadership. She holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance from the University of Professional Studies and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana. She is also pursuing certification with the Chartered Institute of Tax, Ghana.

Kate began her career as a Fund/Project Officer at Child Rights International (2013–2018), where she managed financial oversight for development initiatives. She later joined Agri Resources Group, serving first as Accountant (2018–2020) and then advancing to Financial Controller (2021–2022). Currently, she is the Head of Finance at Wam Pharma Ltd, where she leads financial strategy, compliance, and corporate reporting.

Her expertise spans financial management, corporate governance, and strategic planning, making her a key driver of sustainable growth and accountability.
